The viva list is out and everyone is preparing for JNU Viva now. JNUEEQP wishes you all the best for your viva as well. Big congratulations all!. Please dont’ forget to share with us your success stories on cracking the written exam and few interview questions you faced in the interview/viva after your interview. (Please send those to jnueeqp@gmail.com, we’ll publish on our website so that everyone can benefit of those stuffs).

Writing proposals is always a bit painful and tinged with self-doubt. Everyone I know who has been selected for viva is boxing with it at the moment. I think you might do well by dividing the day into two parts … one for work on the proposal and another for revising the syllabus. Remember, writing a proposal is all about finding the gaps in the existing literature on the theme of your selection and venturing a method to explore those gaps. Feasibility of the exploration is important. But right now, focus on originality of ideas. There’s nothing to say you’ll have to stick with your original proposal once you’re into the research course. The field would be open by then. Please don’t miss your interview, if you don’t know to make a good proposal just go through some websites like this one. Even if you have no any idea about the way it should be framed come with a paper where you state your interested areas

Go for your most interesting topic of your choice, I mean you are at ease and comfort. Google it, search some relevant articles..start preparing with the help of reference, it will hardly take an hour. By the way, Research Proposal is not mandatory for appearing in interview as it’s just a tentative draft to know your interest and judge your expertise in the field of your choice, where you are intended to pursue your research and contribute in existing literature in coming days. It helps the Interview Board to assess how you are at your best.

You can download this file for how to write a synopsis (though prepared for JNU School of International Studies, it’s useful for other disciplines as well). There are good articles on JStor.org on how to write synopsis and if you don’t have access to JStor you can simply use scholar.google.com.

Just share your experience about JNU Viva and Research Proposal please share here. All the best all 🙂
